Wow it's middle of February and I haven't blogged since November. I need to wrap up the quilts I fininshed last year. So here we go...........

This is my Joel Dewberry quilt Hip to be Square. I had the kit for about two years. Finally done and on my bed.

This is the back of my orange and pink Heather Ross quilt. I love my little helper. That boy just loves quilts. I made a Sugar Rush quilt about a year ago and that boy thinks it's his night-night.

I love the VW van block it is my favorite. I got a fat quarter from my daughter. She new just how much I loved it.
Love this quilt not sure were I'm going to use it yet but I'll find a spot. No fear. Maybe I blog again before 2 or 3 months. I have been working on several new quilts. So stay tuned.

I can't believe it I finally did it I finished my stacked coin quilt. Remember the challenge.........yeah I almost don't remember it either. It was so long ago. I got the fabric as one of my Christmas presents last year. It's not my most favorite but it did turn out nice.

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch on Saturday. Weather was nice..........no rain at least while we were there.

Two of my favorite people walking on the bridge. It it so high up we had a really tight grip on Brice's hand. It was so beautiful until you looked on the banks of the gorge and see all the chain stores. Old Navy just should have this view. I really know why have such restriction on the Columbia Gorge and I think it is worth it.

A Summer Day at the Beach

Yes, Liz I am blogging . I know it's been few and far between. I'm a busy Nana. But last week I did spend a great day with 2 of my favorite people. At the beach, what better way to spend a summer day.

It was pookies first time. He wasn't too sure about the sand at first. But got use to it fast. Just like he does everything.

Pookies mom doing what she is always doing. He is so use to it. He will make a great star he is so use to the camera. It's always in his face. We do love to take photos of him.

This past Saturday my daughter Christina and I went to the Barn House Flea Market. It was so much fun and so many lovely sites to see........................this is what summer is all about.

so many pretty things I ended up just taking picture couldn't decide on any one thing.........so I just have lots of pretty pictures to remember it by.

Been away but back

I know I've been away awhile but I'm back for a bit. I've been busy away on a couple of trips to AZ one for pleasure and another for not so happy of a time. But here are some pictures of my garden. I made these raised beds and planted them they are doing quite well. This one is blueberries, pole beans and nasturtiums.

My Biltmore estate bird house. It's falling apart but I love this birdhouse. My mom had it at one of her houses and when she moved she said I could have it. It's one of my favorites.
Another one of my garden boxes with my cucumbers, yellow and green zucchini.

And my water fountain that only took me two years to figure out how to do. Then my son and I whipped it together in about 20 min.

And a photo of the wild gang. Some have to be jailed more than others. Katie, Calvin and livie are in the kennel and Lady and Honey are out. Lady and Honey follow order better. Have a great day. I will try to be better about posting. But, it's had when there is so much to do out side.

I got these fabrics from Sew Mama Sew about a week ago. They are mostly from the Denyse Schmidt Kate jump rope but there are a couple of Heather RossLighting bugs and Mendocino in there too. Sew Mama Sew is the best online fabric store I have ever ordered from. They are so professional about getting their ordered out. You order get an email conformation right away as soon so you order is ready and sent you get another email and it is in your mailbox before you know it. I've ordered from them a few times and always had the best services. Thank you Kristin.

I love these Heather Ross fabric. I love them so much that I just take them out and look at them. I love them so much that I can't make anything out of them. I just want to have them and look at them all the time. My daughter Christina thinks I should stretch them on canvas and hang them in my sewing room so I could see them all the time. But I like to touch them too as they are just the softest fabrics. I think I just put them back in the fabric cabinet for now and take them out every now and then to ogle over.

Liz came out last weekend and her and I worked on some fabric baskets with the help of my darling daughter Christina. I think they turned out quite nice. Liz made a bunny face and ears for her very cute for Colin's Easter basket. I'll give mine to my grandson Brice I'm sure his mom will find something nice to put in them.

Nice sunny Sunday and I am working on cutting out my Joel Dewberry quilt I bought the kit about 2 years ago. I love it but every time I look at the pattern Hip to be Square I think to myself maybe I do it later. Well, I guess later is here. I really want to make it. It is just going to take time to cut it out. 12 different fabrics and lots of different cuts. I'll get there just one cut at a time.

It's so fun to get the fabric all squared up and pressed just right.............

I love my craft room but sometimes I think I should lower the cutting table one notch.

And look I do use my long arm. I drape my pieces all over it. But if you look close you will see that I have a quilt part way loaded. My stacked coin quilt is just about ready to quilt. Who knows I might even do it myself or get my daughter to do it for me.

I finally got some stuff on the walls in my craft room. My pumpkin stitchery by my clock.

I got some IKEA lighting up and cord covers made. A couple of old drawers hung on the wall to store little cute things in.

Also some more of my stitchery framed and up on the wall. I like them. Might take the frames down and paint them a different color.

I love this iron

I bought a oliso iron about 2 years ago and just fell in love with it. Well, about 4 weeks ago it started not lifting some of the time which means the iron doesn't shut off. My lovely daughter Christina emailed the oliso company and they sent me a new iron to replace my 2 year old one. Now that is what I call good customer service. She told them that we loved the iron but the auto lift had stopped working. Next thing I know I got and email from them saying they were sorry I wasn't satisfied and they would be sending me a replacement iron. I would definitely buy from this company again with that kind of service. So here's to lots of pressing and auto-lifting. Have a great weekend.

Saturdays finds

On Saturday I went to the Star Malls Antique store with my friend Kandi. We haven't done that in such a long time. I was looking for thing to decorate my Sewing room and boy did I hit the jack pot. I found this great little traveling iron. Look like it is new. I haven't tried it yet but I bet it works.

I also found this neat little sewing basket with so fun buttons, needles and hooks.

I love the green thread and buttons they look so springy.

And I found this tiny little westie charm I just had to have him. After all my gmail is westiesgalore for a reason I have 4 of them. This little guy will stay in my sewing room so I can look at him everyday. Hope you all had a great weekend too.

This is the book I used to make Baaob. I just love these Japanese books. It's a good thing there easy to follow because I can't read the directions.

I think this will be the last of the red work for a while. I think I'm going to try something else. I have the new crewel I got last week and a few project in that book I would like to try. I haven't done any crewel since I was in high school and let me tell you that was a loooooooooooooong time ago. So I'll keep you posted on how it's going.

This is an apron the I made for my dad's wife. I love to sew for her as she is always so happy to have something homemade. She uses everything that I make for her. It is really nice to be appreciated.

This is a quilt that I made for my Aunt in Az it's light and air they don't need really warm quilts there. I love the way it turned out. I sewed it and my daughter quilted it on my long arm. It's made from the Fresh Squeezed cake and charm pack. Little cutting but it was a bugger to quilt we just couldn't get it squared.

Of course had to have a little of the front on the back.

This years Christmas tree. On the small side but it fits the space nice. I just love nobles. The tree skirt is one my ex mother-in-law made me when my kids were little. They are 28 and 24 now so it has been in the family for a long time. As nice today as the day Grandma Dorothy gave it to me and just as loved.

This is the new table runner I made this year. I had made it for my dining table but it was to small it works great on this table.

I made this on when I was in Nursing school. It's been around for a few years. I still love seeing him every year. He still make my heart go thump thump.

I got the A is for Apron book a while back and have been wanting to make something. So I finally did. I picked up the pear and apple fabric last week and the pink this weekend. I love the combo. I was having trouble enlarging the pattern. So my darling daughter helped me. She was able to get the rounded edge copies and I winged the rest. I think it turned out pretty nice. Maybe I'll wear it on Thanksgiving.

Okay, I'll admit it I'm a little crazy. I made a couple of quilts for one of my dogs this weekend. I'm almost done still sewing on the binding. I made them for my dog Lady. She always lays on the couch by me. When I moved into my new house a couple of years ago and got a new couch. I always laid a quilt down beside me and she would lay on it. I took the one off the living room couch to wash and just never got around to putting back and she is just lost. She just doesn't know where to lay. So I made her one for the couch in the office where we spend most evening. And one for the living room which I'm still working on just about done will blog about later this week.

This is Lady on an old scrape quilt I brought at a garage sale. Just not as cute as the new one I made her. She is such a girly dog. I started the quilt thing so she wouldn't get the couch dirty. Now she can't sleep without one.

Finishing up some more projects

I know it's hard to believe but I can still blog. I haven't just be AWOL I have been crafting. Here are a couple of project that I finished.

I did finish it in time to hang before Halloween. I started it last year so it is nice to have it done.

I've been working on the chicken wall hanging quilt for about 2 years and it's done.

Sugar Rush( a Juliette of Chickpea Sewing Studio quilt I got at Elaine's Quilt Block in Utah) is a pretty new project for me. I bought it on my end of the summer vacation and started it in Sept. Can you believe I finished it. Good turn around for me. I even played around with the picture in Lightroom. See I have been doing things. Made a Christmas table runner this evening. I try and show it this week sometime.

I finally got baby Brice's quilt done and he's only 4 months old. I even have a neat label for it.

I also finally finished this cute little snowman wall hanging. It only took me a couple of years to complete. I just put it away and forgot about it. Now it's done and I'm going to hang it all winter.

I got my Sugar Rush quilt loaded on the HQ now all I need to do is quilt it. That's for another day.

Using up scraps

Ever since I saw one of these on Erin's blog and the when my daughter Christina made one I have wanted one. So yesterday I finally took some of the Ginger Blossom scrapes and I did it. I finally made myself a quilted camera strap and I love it.

I also got the backing for my Sugar Rush quilt done it now ready to load on the HQ sixteen and quilt. I haven't blogged much lately but I have been crafting quite a bit. I've got three quilts that just need the binding stitch on. Will post picture later. Have a great Sunday.

I'm finally posting. I didn't post once in Sept. was busy on Vacation redoing craft room which is still happening. I did get this chair done and really like it.

I used the left over fabric from the Sugar Rush quilt I'm working on. I got the Kit in Utah at Elaine's Quilt Block. The quilt is one that Chickpea made for the shop. It's made with Ginger Blossom. I had enough squares left over to do a patchwork seat. Christina my daughter will be so proud that I linked. I always try but, it doesn't alway work.

As I was getting ready to work in the craft room this morning I had some cute visitor.

I started working on this disappearing nine patch sometime ago. I have been doing some embroidery on a panel for the top. I finely got that part done and am putting the borders on it. Will show more picture tomorrow. Too tired to take pictures tonight. I'm just happy I got a little done on it. When I work on something for a long time I get tired of it and have to make myself finish it.

Goodbye to Casey

I had to say goodbye to Casey. She is my daughter Christina's dog. It was really hard. As you can tell I love dogs. Most of the time I love dogs more than people. Casey has just got to be too much for Christina with the new lifestyle ( new husband, new baby lots of new pressures). Christina just feels that Casey isn't getting enough quality time. But, Casey has been a big part of our lives for a very long time. She can be quite a pest. But I love her anyway and will miss her very much. It's not hard to see her going to a new home it's hard knowing I won't see her again of know how she is. She has been a part of my family for a long time. I love you Casey I hope you will be happy and have a good life.

Dogs and sleeping in

This is my Dal that I inherited from my son. I love her but she just has this thing about letting me sleep in one day a week. Friday's are the only day I usually sleep in a little and she just can't stand it. As soon as the sun is up she wants up. She starts crying and pacing. Comes over to the bed to look at me to see if my eyes are open. She does this every couple of minutes until I get up. It's a good thing I love her because I just want to kick her to the curb right now. It's been a busy summer not much time for crafting. I've done a little here and there but, not much. Will post a few things this weekend.

This is a beautiful sunset after a stormy afternoon. My son and I watched the clouds today as they were trying to form funnel clouds. We don't have tornadoes in this part of the country very often but it was sure trying this afternoon. Fun to watch just glad it didn't come to fruition.

I finally got in gear and made something. I found the lining fabric at one of my favorite store. The Pine Needle in Portland, Or. I've had the ticking for quite a while and I thought these two would make a nice shopping bag. I made long handles as I like it to hang below my waist. I think it turned out pretty nice. I really like the two fabrics together.

Chair in need of recovering

This is a chair I've had for many years. It's job now is to live in my closet and I sit on it when I get dressed in the morning. As you can tell it is in need of recovering. I tried to start many projects today but, I just couldn't get any of them going. For some reason on another I couldn't get any of them going the chair couldn't get recovered because I couldn't find the staple gun. I tried to make some PJ bottoms and found I hadn't bought enough fabric. Tried to work on my messenger bag and hadn't bought enough interfacing. It was all very madding. So I will need to buy a new staple gun and some interfacing and more fabric for PJ's. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Hopefully I will have pics of my finished chair.

Day 30/30 Marco Photo Challenge My dogs have such a tough life. Sleep, eat, nap, drink water, nap, eat, nap and then it's time for bed. I want to be one of my dogs. This Lady aka Lady Bug she was my first Westie. She is the one that spend the most time with me. She lays on the cough by me and sleeps with me at night. She is my best bud and I love her dearly. You can really see but she almost always lays on a quilt that my mother-in-law made for me many years ago. She thinks it is her blanket and she must lay on it. And of course I let her she is my sweetie.

I just laid around on the cough most of this week. Today my son and I worked some more on organizing my garage. Well he worked an I supervised. It's is started to look much better.

We have this very annoying Fat Robin that keeps tapping on our window like he wants in. He also keeps leaving little birdie messes. So out came the BB Gun. Now it is his mission to plug the little guy. Hopefully he will go away and stay away.

Day 15/30 Marco Photo Challenge I took a picture of this evergreen tree on Sunday when we were walking around Portland, Or. It's nice to seen things from a different view. Well, I'm just setting around waiting for 11:15 to head over to the hospital to have my gallbladder taken out. Hope it will all be over soon and feeling better.

Day 14/30 Marco Photo Challenge I must get hydrated for tomorrows surgery. So I have to drink, drink and then drink some more so the nurse's will be able to start my IV tomorrow. I'm starting to get a little case of nerves. Second surgery in less than a year not good odds. I'm sure I will be fine just pre-surgery nerves. So if I don't post for a couple of day's it just because I recovering.

Day 13/30 Marco Photo Challenge, Christina and I went over to downtown Portland, Or today an outside one of the shop was a small Ginkgo biloba tree growing in a pot. It was very cute and just showing the first sign of new spring leaves. I can't wait until she has Brice and the three of us can go walking around to all of the little shops.

We also saw this beautiful old stone church in Portland, Or. It has some really great stone work and stained glass windows.

Day 8/30 Marco Photo Challenge. This is my Lady Bug she was upset with me because I put a picture of Katie on before her. After all she was my 1st westies and of course the one I love the most. Sorry Lady Bug never again. I went and saw my surgent today and will be having surgery on Tuesday April 15 to remove my gallbladder. I wish I would have had it out last year when I had my WLS. I'm not feeling so good tonight hopefully just tired and not another attach coming on. Well more tomorrow.

Day 7/30 Marco Photo Challenge. This is one of my Westies the really pudgy one. Katie she was giving me a raspberry. She needs groomed soooooooo bad. Maybe one night this week. I have four Westies so it is very difficult to groom them all on the same day. Maybe I need to call the mobile dog groomer. I've seen one driving around in my neighborhood just keep forgetting to get the phone number.

Day 6/30 Marco Photo Challenge. Here is some of the Stars I was talking about yesterday. I have them everywhere. I just have a thing for stars. They are on my walls my baskets of course my fabrics. In lots of my quilts.
I was very productive today got lots of my projects done and new ones started. All of Colin's baby blankets are done just need to do one more bib for him. I'm getting Brice's ( my 1st grandson in the making due in one month and 18 days) stuff all ready for him too. Well need to feed myself and do some more projects also get ready for work tomorrow. Day 5 of the Macro photo challenge. I will introduce you to my 4 little crows that sit and collect dust. Yes, that's what they do all day it's their JOB. I have a house full of crows and they are very good at collecting dust. I'm not sure why but, I have a thing for crows and stars. We will get to the stars later in the challenge.
I'm going to work on one of my many sewing projects tonight. Baby Collin ( my daughter Christina's best friend Liz's new son ) was born early so I have to get his stuff done so he will have it when he comes home from the hospital. I'm sure his Mom Liz can't wait to get him home with her. I'm off to sew now. More tomorrow.

Well I kind of missed day 3 as I was still a little dopey from spending all afternoon in to early evening in the ER. Had really bad abdominal pain at work thought I was having a heart attach. Turned out to be gallbladder. They gave me pain meds and sent me home need to make an appointment to have it removed. I don't want to ever have that pain again. I'll see if I can come up with something today.

I think I did it right I followed my daughter directions so hopefully it worked and I posted my picture. It's some nice ribbons on my cutting table that I have been using to make burp cloths.
I think I did it. I followed my daughter directions and hopefully go my day 2 photo challenge picture on my blog. I was going to go outside and take some nature picture as the day was so nice and sunny here. But my glasses fell apart and I spent two hours trying to get them back together. As I can't really see without them. Getting refitted for contacts tomorrow can't wait. By the time I was ready to go outside it was dark. So inside picture again. Nice ribbon though.
